Minisforum EliteMini HX370 Mini PC Review

The Minisforum EliteMini HX370 ($1,099) enters the premium mini PC market with AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 (12C/24T, up to 5.1GHz) and Radeon 890M iGPU, promising top-tier AI and gaming performance. Its 80 TOPS NPU (50 TOPS dedicated) leads in AI tasks like real-time translation and image processing, while the 890M’s 16 RDNA 3.5 cores deliver 1080p gaming at 60fps in titles like Cyberpunk 2077 (Low settings) . However, its price raises eyebrows: The GMKtec EVO X1 (same CPU/GPU, 32GB/1TB) costs $200 less at $899, while the Beelink SER9 (Ryzen 9 AI HX370, 32GB/1TB) undercuts it by $100 with superior cooling. Minisforum’s single-fan cooling system (35dB under load) trails the EVO X1’s dual fans and Beelink’s vapor chamber in sustained performance .

The HX370’s specs mirror its competitors: 32GB LPDDR5X-7500 (non-upgradeable), dual M.2 PCIe 4.0 slots (8GB/s), and Wi-Fi 6E/Bluetooth 5.3 are matched by the EVO X1 and SER9 . Its aluminum chassis (5.12×5×1.85", 1.04lbs) is compact but lacks distinctive features beyond a blue LED ring. Ports include USB4 (40Gbps), DP 2.0 (8K@60Hz), and dual 2.5G Ethernet—identical to the EVO X1, which adds OCuLink for eGPU support. The 120W power adapter is bulkier than Beelink’s GaN charger, and the 45W TDP (48W turbo) is constrained by thermal throttling after 15 minutes of load, unlike the EVO X1’s stable 54W output .

At $1,099, the HX370 struggles to justify its premium over rivals. The EVO X1 offers identical core specs with better cooling at $899. Minisforum’s AI branding doesn’t translate to tangible software advantages—Windows Studio Effects and local LLMs run equally well on cheaper alternatives . Unless you prioritize the HX370’s marginally quieter fan (35dB vs. EVO X1’s 38dB), its value proposition is weak, the EVO X1 is the smarter buy.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Leading AI performance: 80 TOPS NPU (50 TOPS dedicated) excels in local AI tasks like noise cancellation and object detection .
  • Strong iGPU for 1080p gaming: Radeon 890M (16 RDNA 3 cores) handles AAA titles at low settings (~60fps in Elden Ring) and AV1 decoding .
  • Premium connectivity: USB4 (40Gbps), DP 2.0 (8K@60Hz), and dual 2.5G Ethernet match higher-priced competitors .
  • Compact design: Aluminum chassis (1.04lbs) is lighter than Beelink’s SER9 (1.29lbs) .

Cons

  • Overpriced vs. competitors: $200 more than GMKtec EVO X1 (same specs) and $100 more than Beelink SER9.
  • Inferior cooling: Single-fan design throttles under sustained loads, losing to EVO X1’s dual fans and SER9’s vapor chamber .
  • Non-upgradeable RAM: LPDDR5X-7500 is soldered
  • No unique features: Lacks OCuLink (EVO X1) or Vapor chamber to justify premium .
  • Bundled 120W adapter: Bulkier than GaN chargers in competing models .
